The first animal shelter on record (1867) was created to provide inspection and care of working horses but quickly expanded to livestock and small animals. Throughout history the care for animals has been a priority in our profession and so has public safety. What is the best approach? Should we sacrifice safety to save them all? There are great consequences like the increase of dog attacks and bites in our community, overcrowding and zoochosis in animal shelters. Through this session you will take a journey through the history, trends and important movements in our profession to inspire you to make the future for people and animals a better place.
